Craps Betting Options

Novice players seem to get a real headache from learning all about the different craps bets and the craps house edge. However, when taking it easily, step-by-step with a good guide and a little patience, things will clear up in no time.

To make it all easier to understand and learn, we've grouped the betting information into sections. Read it, take your time to understand, read again until you're sure you've really got it. Craps 777 wishes you best of luck with your bets - just don't forget to be patient, and always enjoy yourself have an enjoyable game.

Basic Bets

Pass Line Bets

These bets take place before the "come out roll". If the dice show 7 or 11 on the 1st roll, you immediately win the bet. If the dice show 2, 3 or 12 on the first roll, you automatically lose it. The rest of the numbers give you a point for that specific number - meaning you (or any shooting player) may roll the dice again. The shooter can continue shooting until one of two things occurs:

  1. The player rolls the point number. Meaning, if your point was on six, then six is the number you want the dice to show. If you succeed shooting your point number before rolling 7 - the bet is yours.
  2. The player rolls a 7. If he hasn't rolled his point number by then, anyone who bet "pass line" will lose their bet.

Don't Pass Line Bets

Just as they sound, the "Don't pass" bets are more or less the opposite of the "pass" bets. These bets, much like the pass bets, take place before the "come out roll". There are two ways to win this kind of bet:

  1. When the player's dice show 3 or 12 after playing his "come out roll".
  2. The player rolls a 7 before rolling his point value.

Come Bets

This kind of bet is very similar to "Pass Line" bets, with one small variation - this bet only takes place after the point value has already been determined. Number-wise, for either winning or losing, the Come bets are exactly the same as Pass bets. When getting a point, it will be called a "Come point" - the idea behind that point is the same as in regular, pass points, but only apply to "come betters". The same rules apply to the come points roll as to pass points.

Don't Come Bets

These bets are placed at the same time as the come bets. The win and loss numbers are the same as in "Don't pass" bets, and the points, besides being "come points" instead of regular points, are treated (rules-wise) similarly to don't pass points. This specific bet has an intriguing exception, which is the "push" - if the shooter's dice show 2 on first roll, the don't come bet will be returned to the betting player.

Basic Bets - Payback

Win even money (example: 25$ put in, win 25$).

Odds Bets

Betting Odds on Pass Line Bets

This bet is an additional one, which actually increases the amount that is wagered on the "pass" line. It takes place only after the point value had been set. To win this bet, the shooter has to roll his point value in the dice before rolling a 7. However, additional profits can be made, all depending on the point value. When the value is 4 or 10, the players gets paid back 2:1, when the value is 5 or 9, he gets paid back 3:2 and when the point value is 6 or 8, he gets a payback of 6:5.

Betting Odds on Come Bets

This bet is the same as the "Betting Odds on Pass Line Bets", as brought to you by craps777.com in the above paragraph. The only difference is that the winnings are determined by the "come point" instead of the regular point.

Betting Odds on Don't Pass Line Bets

Here's a bet which is the opposite of "Betting Odds on Pass Line Bets". The point here, as in before, determines the amount of paybacks for the bet winners (same numbers, same ratio).

Betting Odds on Don't Come Bets

Except for the points, which are "come points" instead of the regular ones, this bet is identical to "Don't Pass Line" Bets.

Place Bets

Place Win Bet
After the come out roll is done, the dealer places this bet on one of the next numbers - 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10. If the shooting player rolls the number on which the bet was put before rolling a 7, the player wins the bet. The paybacks these bets get are: When betting 4 or 10, you get paid back 9:5, when you bet 5 or 9, it pays you 7:5. a 6 or 8 bet pays 7:6.

Place Lose Bet

This is the exact opposite of the win bets. The shooter has to roll a seven before getting the chosen number, in order for the player to win.

Buy Bet

An identical bet to "Place Wins", only the paybacks aren't the same: 4 or 10 pay back 2:1, a 5 or 9 bet will pay 3:2, and a bet on 6 or 8 pays 6:5.

Lay Bet

Identical bet to "Place Lose", with a small matter of different paybacks: 4 or 10 pay back 2:1, a 5 or 9 bet will pay 3:2, and a bet on 6 or 8 pays 7:6.

Big 6 or Big 8 Bets

This bet is placed on the 6 or 8 in the specific area on the table. One wins the bet if the shooter rolls the chosen number before he gets a seven. The payback is even to the bet value.

One Roll Bets

Field Bets

The players place these bets on the "field" area on the craps table. The win or loss of this bet depends on the next value shown on the dice. The winning numbers of this bet are 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 12. 5-8 lose the bet immediately. The payback for the winners is even money.

One Roll Proposition Bets

Any Craps Bets

This bet, which pays back 7:1, is won only if the roll made right after the bet is 2, 3, 12.

Any Seven Bets

This bet, which pays back 4:1, is won only if the roll made right after the bet is a 7.

Two (Aces) Bet

This bet, which pays back 30:1, is won if the roll made right after the bet is a 2.

Twelve (Boxcars) Bet

This bet, which pays back 30:1, is won if the roll made right after the bet is a 12.

Any Eleven Bet

This bet, which pays back 15:1, is won if the roll made right after the bet is a 11.

Horn Bet (Craps Eleven)

When one puts a "Horn Bet", chips are placed on 2, 3, 11 and 12. if the next roll results in one of this numbers, the paybacks will be: 2 and 12 pay back 30:1, 3 and 11 pay back 15:1.

Horn High Bet

This bet is just like the Horn bet, only with a larger wager on a specific number among the four as mentioned above.

Hardway Bets (Multi-Roll Proposition Bets)

Hardway Bets

When the shooter rolls 4, 6, 8 or 10 in doubles (2,2, 3,3 etc.), the bet is won.

Hard Four Bets

A hard number in craps is one which can be rolled in one combination of numbers and no other. A hard four is a result of 2,2 in the dice. If the shooter manages to roll 2,2 before 7 or any other combination of 4 (3,1, for that matter) is rolled, the bet is won with a payback of 30:1. As soon as non-hard 4 or any 7 are rolled, the bet is lost.

Hard Ten Bets

This bet is very similar to Hard Four bet, and to other "hard" bets, only with a 5,5 combination of the dice. The payback is also the same - 8:1.

Hard Six Bets

This bet is very similar to Hard Ten bet, and to other "hard" bets, only with a 3,3 combination of the dice. The payback is slightly different, though - 10:1.

Hard Eight Bets

This bet is very similar to Hard Six bet, and to other "hard" bets, only with a 4,4 combination of the dice. The payback is also the same - 10:1.
