Craps Dice
A pair of dice - no craps game can be played without them. The dice used for casino craps are called "perfect" dice, and not without reason. These dice have serial numbers and a monogram marked on them, in order to prevent replacement of the dice with fake dice in order to cheat. The perfect casino dice are usually made of a transparent plastic material with various markings and edge styles, so they are recognizable from other dice that may appear on the table. Among the various edge styles of the dice are the square "razor edges" and the somewhat rounded "feather edges". The numbers on the dice can be either carved in the dice, flush spots, or "bird's eye". The numbers on opposite sides always add up to 7, making the odds the same for each roll. The casino gamblers choose 2 dice from a bowl of dice presented to them. In order to maintain a traditional touch to the game, craps dice are usually colored red and white.
Craps Table
The size of a casino craps table is 165x365 cm, quite similar to the size of a billiard table. A rubber piece sized 121x28 cm is placed around the far end of the table, meant to ensure that each roll is random by causing the dice to bounce. There are specific areas for bet-placing on the table, positioned on the green felt which covers the craps table. The felt is sometimes divided into 2, and used for two different craps games with one betting section located in the middle of the table. The table is surrounded by an outside rail, which has grooves which the players can store their chips in. The rail may also provide a tray for placing drinks underneath the outside rail.
Craps Chips
Craps betting chips are normally given the values of 1, 5, 10, 25, 100, or 500 dollars. The minimum & maximum limits for each table vary according to each casino's rules, and a winning stack of chips can be exchanged for money either at the cashier or at the table itself - again depending on the casino policy. The Marker Puck
What we call the marker puck is actually a plastic disk which marks the hot point of the table and helps both the dealer and players to keep track of what's going on in the game. The puck is shaped like a coin or a chip, and it is black on one side, and the flip side is white. When the white side is up, it indicates that there's a round in progress. When the puck is turned over to the black side, the round is over and a new round is about to begin. The Craps Stick
The normal length of the craps stick is 36 inch with a curved end. The curve assists controlling and moving the craps dice to and from any point of the table. This is the main tool of the stickman, and the reason for him being called by that title. Craps Crew There are 4 casino personnel who run the craps table and are in charge of it. They will not leave the table while there's a game going on. There's a stickman, a boxman, and 2 dealers who operate the table. The dealers' job is to see the bets are located in their spots and paid correctly, without any unnecessary contact with the dice. The stickman uses his long craps stick in order to control the location of the dice, in addition to him being in charge of making proposition bets and keeping the game exciting and lively. The boxman is in charge of the cash the table holds, and also functions as a dispute settler in case of need.
